On July 02, 2005, the VSNA Board of Directors met at the Maryland Convention 2005. The meeting started at

10.15 am and was adjourned around 1.15 pm.

Minutes:

 

1.         Minutes of the June 12th, 2005 meeting approval:

           

Motion:  It was proposed to accept the Teleconference meeting minutes of June 12, 2005

Proposed: Dr. Chandra Mouli Seconded: Dr. Siddappa.

 

2.         Prabhakar Patil President VSNA , introduced new Elected BOD members Vijay Kumar and

Dr. G. Jagadeesh to BOD.

 

3.         Budget Update: Uma Sajjan Treasurer VSNA updated the 2005 budget. Members expressed their opinion that $4000.00 for Professional Auditing is too expensive. It was proposed to accept the budget

            Proposed: Ravi Bhooplapur Seconded: Dr Setru.

 

4.         VSNA Awards: Dr. Chandra Mouli Vice President VSNA announced that 2005 Service to community

award was given to G. Doddamani of Detroit chapter and Professional Achievement award were given

Dr. Shantha of Georgia chapter and Shiva Prakash of Maryland chapter. BOD accepted the result

5          2005 VSNA Projects Update:

 

a.       Rejuvenate VSNA: Prabhakar Patil updated that under this project following things were achieved:

1.       New York chapter was reinducted

2.       Improved communication between BOD and members

3.       Improved communication between BOD and BOR. One BOR member will participate in every BOD meetings.

                  

    1. Membership drive: VSNA received the commitment from following chapter Presidents to increase membership and we will track on regular basis.

    1. Maryland 600: Under the leadership of Prabhakar Patil and hard work of Maryland

and BOD members, Maryland 2005 Convention received more than 600 registrations and

                        Maryland 600 target was achieved. This project was a great success.       

 

  6. VSNA-Value Proposition: Mr. Ayah presented the VSNA Master Plan and it was recommended to

     review the Master Plan every two years.

     Prabhakar Patil presented the VSNA-Value Proposition, he stressed that more attention must be given to

     Youth. Under his proposal:

           

1.       Include more programs for Kids.

2.       Program for Youth under 18-25 age group and form Youth Leadership Board.

3.       Matrimony column for VSNA Members.

4.       Books for Kids.

5.       Membership kits include Welcome kit material, brochure and Help CD etc.

6.       Invite Youth leader to BOD meeting and recognize Youth leaders at Convention.

7.       Help-line includes guideline for convention, Health care, Cremation services and check list (for visiting parents).

 

7. Under open topics BOD discussed following:

 

1.       Niranjan Banav President New York chapter thanked the BOD and as per guide lines

New York chapter returned 50% of the money from Convention to VSNA and it has met all conditions set forth by VSNA.

2.       Souvenir: Maryland chapter will deliver the 2005 Convention Souvenir within 90 days from

Convention date.

3.       BOD approved the VSNA Financial audited account, proposed: Shivashankar and

seconded: Dr. Somashekar Pallegar

4.       It was proposed to have 2006 Convention on Cruise.

 

Joint Meeting between BOD and BOR meeting minutes July 02, 2005 12.00 : 1.15 pm

 

 

1. Prabhakar Patil President VSNA, introduced BOR members G. Shankar BOR chair, 

    Manjula Shankarappa, Rudresh Bihalli and Sajjan Shiva to BOD and updated the BOR members on following

 

1. 2005 VSNA Budget

2. VSNA Awards

3. 2005 Projects

4. Value proposition

5. Convention 2006

 

2. BOR requested BOD to review and balance 2005 VSNA budget.

3. Review BOR Book project (Practice and process of Veerahivisim) headed by Manohar Mali Patil.

4. Scholarship Update: 3 Scholarship each valued at $1000.00 will be given to VSNA member’s children.

    Manjula Shankrappa  will call for application, deadline is set to August 15, 2005.

5. Fund raising for Convention Trust fund: Headed by two BOR members, Manjula Shankarappa and

    Nanjudappa Swamy.

6. BOR request additional audit needed  for Convention Trust Fund.

7. BOR received the petition for New York Metro chapter. BOR chair commented that, it needs more information

    and agreed that BOR will make a decision within 90 days from this meeting.

 

General Body meeting with VSNA members, meeting minutes July 03, 2005 4.00 : 5.00

 

1. Prabhakar Patil President VSNA, introduced two new chapters, Central California and New England.

 

2. Nagabushan President Central California commented that, they started Central California chapter because

    of Geographical reason and they stress Veerashiva Philosophy and Vachana recitals during their meetings.

3. Basavaraj S President New England chapter, thanked the VSNA for supporting and helping them to start the

    chapter.

4. There were lots of question regarding VSNA Convention Trust fund from members to VSNA and following

     were member’s comments:

 

                a. Financial Audit report needs to distribute to members before the meeting for review.

            b. Convention Trust fund belongs to all members and that information should be available to members.

            c. Present Fund raising committee has been dissolved, need to form new committee.

            d. Take a lead in fund raising project and set a top priority.

            e. Community must be able to raise and carefully manage and set rules and plan for future as organization sustains and grows.

            f. Fund performance did not captured market value, need to review fund portfolio.

            g. VSNA Directory did not update since 2000.

            h. Tap Youth for Fund raising and reach out community.

            i. Anubhava Ghosti should be well articulated with better moderator.

            j. Convention hall need to have a good Sound system.

            k. Swamiji’s are having difficulty in speaking in English. We should encourage them to continue speaking in English or have a moderator translate into English.

            l. Vachana translation not up to mark.

            m. The comment about the Hindi song was not about the language of the song, but the sexy-pop movie version of the song.  The commenter disapproved of the type and content of the song, not the language it was sung in.
